Dan faced his opponent at a debate that was sponsored by Dr. Robert Harrison and the Democracy in Action club from LBCC. It was a lively debate with three panelists who asked a range of questions on land use, the economy, health care and more.

There were about forty people in attendance, and 37 of them were Dan supporters!

Dan was impressive, answering questions in thoughtful yet very direct way. He was able to talk about his ideas for helping District 17 address the very serious issues of Meth abuse and related crime, education and how we might better utilize education tax dollars. He also spoke about how District 17, as well as all of Oregon, is poised to become a leader in this country new alternative energy technologies.

Dan spoke to a packed crowd at the opening of the Linn County Democratic Office in downtown Albany, on September 26th.

Nearly all local candidates were in attendance for the event, and the key note speaker was Secretary of State Bill Bradbury.

It was high energy as the candidates spoke about their campaigns and the campaign of Barack Obama.

Part of the discussion was the large number of newly registered Democrats in Linn County--the number of Democrats is higher than ever for this traditionally conservative county.

About 75 people attended the event, and following that, went to a nearby pizza parlor to watch the Presidential debate.

Dan recently purchased a giant ballon for his campaign. It's debut was at Cheadle Lake for the 4th of July festivities, and it proved to be amazingly sucessful. Measuring 13 feet long and flying forty feet in the sky, Dan's blimp attracted the attention of countless pleasure seekers at the events during the day. One individual that noticed Dan's giant ballon was Representative Dave Hunt.

Representative Dave Hunt is not only the elected representative to District 40 (an area consisting of north Clackamas County's communities of Gladstone, Oak Grove, Jennings Lodge, Johnson City and Clackamas), he's also the House Majority Leader. Representative Hunt and Dan talked for a length of time about Dan's campaign, District 17, and the issues that it faces. While Dan's campaign hasn't been a high profile one in the state, the race is extremely important to the members of the Oregon House and they're behind Dan in his efforts.

Dan Greets Voters In Stayton And Mill City's 4th Of July Parades

This 4th of July was a fantastic holiday. The food, fireworks, and festivities really made this a great celebration of America's birthday. In fashion with this celebration of our great democracy, Dan Thackaberry walked in two parades, one in Stayton and one in Mill City, and took every opportunity too meet the people of his district.

The turnout at both of these events was fantastic. Families from communities all over the district got a chance to see Dan in action. Dan's volunteers were along side him in both events passing out literature explaining Dan's positions on important issues. Dan paraded so much in this one day that the electric car that accompanied him burned out! It just goes to show that Dan outworked his own "float" on our great nation's holiday. What does that say about Dan's work ethic?

Dan would like to thank everyone that came to these two events and to everyone that helped make this holiday one to remember
